Tagline: “Moving Forward Together, Restoring the Earth”
Labuan Bajo, June 4, 2026 – The Diocese of Labuan Bajo, together with the West Manggarai Regency Government and various partners, officially launched a series of events for the Golo Koe Maria Assumpta Nusantara Festival 2026 on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. at Sudamala Beach, Labuan Bajo.

This year’s festival launch was held with an ecological focus and coincided with World Environment Day, which is observed every June 5. The theme for World Environment Day 2026, “#NowForClimate,” aligns with the theme of the Golo Koe Maria Assumpta Nusantara Festival 2026, namely “A Communal Pilgrimage in Synergistic Fellowship to Care for the Integrity of Creation,” with the tagline “Walking Together, Restoring the Earth.”
The launch event will begin with a joint assembly led by the Regent of West Manggarai, Edistasius Endi, who will serve as the Inspector of the Ceremony. Likewise, the Bishop of Labuan Bajo, Mgr. Maksimus Regus, along with the entire leadership of the Diocese of Labuan Bajo, priests, monks and nuns, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkompimda), government officials, representatives of the people, the faithful, communities, educational institutions, community organizations, tourism stakeholders, and various development partners will take part in this ceremony.
As a demonstration of our shared commitment to protecting the environment, the launch event featured a series of concrete actions, including: a joint gathering at Sudamala Beach; a beach cleanup along the Sudamala Beach area; the release of a pair of doves as a symbol of peace, hope, and a commitment to preserving life; and the planting of coconut saplings in the Sudamala Beach area as a gesture of care for the coastal ecosystem and to help mitigate climate change.
This launch also marks the growing strength of the collaboration between the Diocese of Labuan Bajo, the West Manggarai Regency Government, the business community, local communities, and various strategic partners in raising ecological awareness and reinforcing Labuan Bajo’s identity as a sustainable tourist destination.
The Golo Koe Labuan Bajo Maria Assumpta Nusantara Festival has grown to become one of the largest cultural and religious events in eastern Indonesia. The festival has also been included in the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) as one of the nation’s premier festivals, recognized as part of Indonesia’s top event calendar.
The year 2026 marks the 5th Golo Koe Festival since it was first held in 2022. In addition, this year marks the second year that the Diocese of Labuan Bajo has been entrusted with serving as the festival’s main organizer.
With this launch event, the entire series of activities for the Golo Koe Maria Assumpta Nusantara Festival 2026—which will take place in several phases—has officially begun.
The next event is the Maria Assumpta Nusantara Procession, which will begin on July 10, 2026, from the Lengkong Cepang Parish in South Lembor. The procession will then visit 26 parishes within the Diocese of Labuan Bajo as a pilgrimage of faith, a means of strengthening the fellowship among the faithful, and an embodiment of the synodal spirit that involves the entire People of God.
The highlight of the Golo Koe Maria Assumpta Nusantara Festival 2026 will take place August 10–15, 2026, in Labuan Bajo. For nearly a week, the public will be treated to a variety of religious, cultural, social, creative economy, and environmental education activities, including: a creative economy and culinary exhibition, an archipelago cultural arts performance, a Catholic Spiritual Revival (KRK), ecological education and tree-planting initiatives, social and charitable activities, a cultural carnival, the Maria Assumpta Nusantara colossal dance, Manggarai cultural theater and Caci performances, the Grand Procession of Maria Assumpta Nusantara, a Grand Eucharistic Celebration on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, and an arts and music concert.
Through the Golo Koe Maria Assumpta Nusantara Festival 2026, all segments of society are invited to foster brotherhood, strengthen collaboration, preserve cultural heritage, and take part in a collective effort to protect and restore the Earth as our shared home.
